Glassy Gowanus. #nofilter
Variation on a classic: the Black Manhattan, courtesy of http://cold-glass.com/2013/10/25/the-black-manhattan-cocktail/
Verdict: Delicious. The aging process has really deepened the flavor, giving it a richness and complexity not present in the unaged (and still very good) version. Here’s the recipe:
540ml Flor de Caña 7yr
270ml Dolin Blanc (*must* be Blanc. Dolin Dry does not work)
30ml Gran Marnier
Mix ingredients in a mason jar, and add 1.5-2” oak spiral. I used Light American Oak from The Barrel Mill. Age for 6 weeks. Decant by pouring through a coffee filter.
Serving suggestions: Stir with ice, pour into chilled coupe. Garnish with expressed lemon peel.
